Chance Meetings
I did my Christmas shopping today. On my way to buy some wine from Cabots, a really good wine shop where the staff really know their stuff, I noticed that a German style christmas market had been set up in the dry dock at Custom House Quay. It was rather nice: mulled wine and bratwurst were on sale from some stalls while others sold preserves, cakes, toys, and gifts. While wandering around the stalls, I had my first chance meeting. My friend Peter had a stall there, where he was selling his photographs. That was a pleasant surprise and I stopped there for a while chatting and tried not to scare away potential customers.
After a while, though, I started to bet hungry, so I wandered over to a stall selling bratwurst. It was here that I had my second chance meeting. My cousin Brian and his girlfriend were also feeling a little peckish and they arrived at the grill just as I received my sausage in a bun. We wandered around the market for a bit and had some mulled wine before I headed off to Cabots. It is nice the way things work out sometimes. I had planned a laid back afternoon, wandering around, doing some shopping, and I met up with friends and family by chance. If I had planned that, it would not have half as much fun. It is strange how things work out sometimes.
